2010-08-30 | Trip Report: Interfaith Issues in the USA, Russia – Philadelphia, June 2010

The Interfaith Issues II program was conducted in Philadelphia and included a two-day trip to Washington, DC for professional meetings.  The group of 10 participants was comprised of religious leaders, non-government, and government representatives working on interfaith and religious tolerance issues in regions throughout Russia.  The participants represented Orthodox, Judaism, Muslim, and Buddhists faiths.  They were hosted by International Visitors Council (IVC) of Philadelphia.

2010-08-20 | Trip Report: Volunteerism in addressing social challenges: experience in health and social welfare at the community level, Moscow region – Missouri, May 2010

The Volunteerism program carried out in Kansas City, MO was a very intensive three week program which included meetings with various NGOs, foundations and business associations as well as cultural events, and the opportunity to live with an American family during their stay. The participants were able to develop a general understanding of the history and culture of volunteerism in Kansas City and learn how to utilize volunteers effectively as well as to retain and reward them. They had the opportunity to see firsthand how volunteers make an impact on the community by visiting programs that benefit underprivileged groups in the community as well as how volunteerism can be a catalyst for change, from the grassroots up. The group was hosted by International Visitors Council of Kansas City.

2010-08-17 | Trip report: Tuberculosis (TB) and TB/HIV care in the USA, Khabarovsk krai – Worcester, Massachusetts, May-June 2010


A group of 10 professionals from the Khabarovsk krai of Russia visited Worcester, Massachusetts on May-June, 2010.  The visitors included various Russian doctors, specialists, and medical officers who work in clinics that specialize in the prevention or treatment of Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDs, as well as NGO representatives.

2010-07-23 | Trip report: Healthy Lifestyle, Irkutsk Oblast – Reno, NV, May – June, 2010



In May 2010 the group of ten specialists from Irkutsk Oblast arrived to Rino, Nevada for the three-weeks training devoted to different aspects of healthy lifestyle promotion. The group was hosted by Northern Nevada International Center (NNIC). The group included educators, doctors, administrators and NGO representatives.

The program was carried out in Philadelphia, PA. The group of ten participants was hosted by International Visitors Council (IVC) of Philadelphia. The visitors included professionals from the local religious, government, and non-profit communities in the Tatarstan region of Russia. The goal of the program was to provide participants with an opportunity to examine how interfaith issues are addressed in the United States, so that participants would be able to help in building mutual respect and pluralism among religiously diverse communities upon their return to Russia.

Annual Report - 2008
Attention! Community Connections Annual Report – 2008 is published on the website. 12 groups from Russia participated in training programs in 10 states. Twelve host organizations prepared professional and cultural programs for 118 Russian specialists. The program results are reviewed in the Annual Report – 2008!

Program's results

Alumni of the Community Connections program participate in an online survey, which is administered six months after they completed the program. The goal of the survey is to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and to allow alumni to share news of projects and achievements they have implemented as a result of what they learned from the program.
