A group of specialists from Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad oblast, Russia completed a professional training on NGO Accountability, Transparency, and Good Governance, in Detroit, Michigan, from September 10th through October 1, 2009, under the auspices of the Community Connections – Russia program. The group consisted of 10 participants - 6 female and 4 male. The age range of the participants was 29-59 years old. The participants are professionals working in different NGOs of the region. The delegates were hosted by the International Visitors Council of Metropolitan Detroit.

2009-12-15 | Trip Report: Healthy Lifestyles, Moscow and Tver Oblasts – Worcester, Massachusetts, October 2009

The group of ten professionals from Moscow and Tver Oblasts has successfully completed the training program that was carried out in Worcester, Massachusetts. The group was hosted by International Center of Worcester and consisted of professionals working at city and district hospitals, city administration, an NGO, and a secondary school. The goal of this Community Connections program was to provide participants with a broad understanding of various American healthy lifestyle campaigns, as well as the opportunity to establish professional connections with peers in the US, so that they could gain the knowledge, support, and inspiration necessary to successfully facilitate healthy lifestyle changes in Russia.

Program's results

Alumni of the Community Connections program participate in an online survey, which is administered six months after they completed the program. The goal of the survey is to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and to allow alumni to share news of projects and achievements they have implemented as a result of what they learned from the program.
